I have a site that recently had a failed ACS processor replaced with an ACS R7. They're saying that on the old processor, every time they picked up the handset on one of their phones it would pick up a line automatically without having to press a Line button, but with the new processor when they do that they get an intercom tone. They'd like to program it like that again, so that when they pick up a handset to make a call the system grabs a line automatically. Can that be programmed?

Yes. It's individually programmed. Feature 00, Left Intercom Twice, Right Intercom Once, enter the first extension, press **, Press each line in the order you want them to grab them, press ** again to save. Feature 00 to exit or right intercom to move onto the next phone.

DOH! (smacks head) - I forgot all about that, as I usually have to do that for the analog phone speed dials I set up for my sites where I have a dial tone and need to change it to an intercom tone. This time I'm doing it in reverse. Thanks for your help :)

Based on your other post (phones not ringing, just blinking), I think that you have assigned all of your extensions to Hunt Group 7 in #505 - that's only for the voicemail ports.

When an extension is assigned to HG-7, it will not get ringing on the incoming calls (because that's filtered through #206 and the hung group), and they will go to Intercom first instead of a line (and the Intercom dial tone will sound like an outside dial tone)

Thanks Triple T - I checked and #505 was ok - no other extensions other than 78 & 79 were assigned. It ended up being the extension ringer settings for each line - I set them all to Immediate Ring and the site was good to go. I think that when their original processor went down, the tech who installed the replacement didn't reprogram the system completely, and they didn't have a B&R card installed to restore from.

As always, you guys are awesome.

Are you sure they defaulted it before installing it? By default, all extensions have Immediate Ring on all lines, so it was a bit of work for the tech to turn them all off! (Well, he could have set one to no ring and copied to all of the others)

Anyway, glad you got it sorted out!!

Actually, I'm not sure. It's possible that the person in charge at the site had them all set to No Ring for some unknown reason (it's happened before at some of my sites), or it was just a glitch. This particular site has had a lot of glitches over the last six months, and at first we thought it was because the Telco room was hot and had an elevator shaft on the other side of the wall from the cabinet, so there was a ton of vibration from the elevator. The cabinet was moved to another wall and the room was cooled, and the system seemed to get better, but there are still some glitches I can't explain where settings change without anyone touching the system. We're trying to grind it out for another 8 months or so until the site upgrades to an IP Office.
