Two of our techs went to IP Office training not to long ago and the trainer said the Partner will be discontinued at the end of 4th quarter next year? Has anyone heard anything to prove that? The instructor told them that you will be able to use the partner phones on the IP Office, which doesnt make sense, being that its a 2 pair phone and the IPO is 1 pair??

I haven't heard anything concrete about the Partner ACS being dropped in 2010, but the ability to use Partner phones with an IP Office system is something people have been asking for.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Take a look at this thread - it was posted almost a year ago - but may be relevant: thread688-1520616

I forgot all about that topic/thread! [dazed]

So...from what AVAYA announced and what Tdaugirdas saw...it seems as though the Partner phones on the IP Office is becoming a reality. Some of the guys in the IP Office forum are going to be testing the new R6 software for IPO in November. Maybe they will leak some info on this.

We actually priced it out and a PACS R7 with 8 phones and a Partner Messaging and an IPO 500 with 8 phones and embedded VM comes out to be about the same price. I think it was about $200 more for the 500.

How does the embedded VM compare to the Avaya Partner Message (in terms of features)?

I remember someone (and I can't for the life of me recall who it was) suggested that if you select an IPO-500, that the full voicemail was the way to go.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

the messaging blows the embedded out of the water in regards to the Auto Attendant features and the amount of messages and users you can have, but the embedded has gotten better and includes finally dial by name and can forward the messages to e-mail.
Voicemail Pro is definitely the way to go but for the price of teh Pro you need to get a good use out of it before it warrants the investment.
I like the partner system it is nice and solid (OK R7 had a bad start) but it is as a key system very good, easy to install with analog options on every port so you don't need to have an extra analog port to have a cordless or a ringer. I think that the Partner will be around for a few more years but they will probably upgrade the programming interface and maybe include IP one day to be able to use SIP lines directly and not through the ATA's but that is all in Avaya's hands and so far I have not heard any confirmation or denial of either the system dying or getting upgraded.

Westi,

Don't forget about AVAYA Marketing. I think they would love nothing more than to discontinue the Partner series and force all Parnter Maintenance customers to "upgrade" to the IPOffice. This would force the IPO sales up and make people like BOB C a very happy man. The Embedded has gotten better, but you are correct, they could enhance the user mailbox features.

they might just sell SSU with all new partner systems R9, LOL

I heard it from a good source, and thusly verified in a round about way. The next Partner system will look like an IPO.

But there will be another partner system. If they do come out with a module that will accept Partner phones, i might venture a guess at the limited future the Partner might have then.

I guess the next question is will this new Partner provision the same way as the current Partner ACS, or will it be completely different [ponder]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
