Hi everyone,

I just bought an ACS Release 6 system for my home since it is getting CAT5e wired. I was looking through the installation manual to try to find the screw types to mount the 2 slot carrier on the wall. I found that I need a #8 and #4 screw, but as far as I looked it didn't specify what length the screw is. I know these screws come in a variety of lengths so I was hoping someone could help me out.

My second question has to do with call routing. Ext. 10 will be the kitchen phone and have a Night Service button on it. In day mode, I would like certain phones to ring immediately or not ring at all. I know how to do this. After about 5 or so rings I would like ext. 10's mailbox to answer the call for all 3 incoming lines. (I am using PARTNER Voice Messaging PC Card Small). Then, at night, I would press the Night button and what I would like to have happen is only certain downstairs phones to ring so we wouldn't be woken up. Then after 3 rings I would either like ext. 10's mailbox to answer or go to the auto-attendant. (I haven't decided yet). When looking in the installation manual I believe it said that all phones ring even in night mode if they ring in day mode. Could someone please help me clarify this and let me know if what I wish to do at night is possible? Thanks and I will continue to try to find an answer.

I appreciate any help in advance![smile]

Just go to the hardware store and get long skinny screws to be able to go through both modules into the plywood backboard on your wall.

You know, that "Night Service" button can also be a "Day Service" button - set only the phones that you want to ring after hours to immediate ring, and then add those phones that you want to ring in the day AND night mode in the Night Service Group, then label the button "DAY RING ON". If you use an auto attendant, you can change the number of rings before answering on a per line/per mode basis. If you have a mailbox cover the lines, you can only make it answer immediately if you use DND on that extension, or delayed if DND is off. You can't (easily or practically) switch from auto attendant to coverage.

Just curious...What is the second module going to be? The base 3 lines and 8 extensions is usually perfect for a residential application. [smile]

Second module is going to be a 308ec. I need about 15 extensions. Every room will have a phone and we live in a larger home.

So is there a specific screw length to screw the modules into the 2 slot carrier? I don't want to get the wrong size. Hopefully someone here knows the length. Thanks for the help with the Night/Day mode question. I didn't even think of this. It makes sense.

I don't have the info at hand, but, if you stack the two modules in proper "form" you can get a good approx of how long it needs to be. Just add a small amount for proper wall anchorage. [smile]

I found the following in the main Installation guide:

(2) #4 x 3/4" panhead screws
(1) #8-15 x 3 1/2" panhead screw

Depending on the mounting surface, Y.M.M.V.

Thank you so very, very much!!!![bigsmile] This is exactly what I needed. I was able to find the screws at Home Depot.

In terms of my call routing here, I think I am going to dump any unanswered outside calls into ext. 10's mailbox. Am I able to assign multiple extensions ext. 10's mailbox so if I were in another room I can see if there is a voice mail? For example, ext. 10 is the kitchen, so could the living room, office, and master bedroom all have message waiting notification for ext.10's mailbox? This would be very helpful. Obviously each room doesn't need it's own voice mail box. Thanks for everyone's help. I do appreciate it.

Something tells me that you would need the R8 processor in order to get that feature. I'm not sure if the Avaya Partner Messaging would be needed as well.

Pull up a copy of the R8 processor Installation Guide and check to see what the requirements and limitations are. [smile]
