I have a Partner ACS Rev. 6 that when a number rings, you have to push the ringing line button to answer it. Help.

You have to have the phone set to Ring before simply lifting the handset will connect to the ringing line.

So that way, everyone not picking up the phone will get an open line without unintentionally answering an incoming line?

Yes. If the phone is set to ring and you go to make a call, you will grab the ringing line. You can't have it both ways. Either you leave the phones set to no-ring and you have to push a button to answer it or set the phones to ring but you will then be connected to the ringing line if you go off-hook (unless you first press an open non-ringing line, then you would go off-hook on that line).

Well, that's the trade off. If your phone is ringing, you're going to connect to the ringing line. If you want to pick up a dial tone to dial out instead, you need to press an idle line button BEFORE lifting the handset, (while it is ringing on another line) and it will let you dial out.

Thanks TouchToneTommy for your quick response. I will try it as soon as I get in. Have a great day.
