I have a Partner ACS 8.0 that is currently in pooled mode with 20 stations and 12 lines. My customer wants to add another separate department to his business with 5 stations and 4 new lines. I would like to put the new department in his system as squared lines using Line assignment #301 and then restrict the new stations from using the existing pooled lines # 315.
Can this be done without any conflicts?. I also plan on using Auto Attendant # 2 which is currently not in use for the 4 new lines. Everything that I have read so far makes me think this will work. I do not have a system to test this before going on customers site.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sure, of course. Don't put the new lines into any pools, and for the extensions that will be using them, remove any pool assignment (#207)and then assign the lines as normal (#301). You can use #302 and #315 to absolutely forbid extensions from accessing lines and pools

consider that you have easily reached the point that would make it advantageous for both you and your customer to think about a system upgrade and employing ds1 service.(did, multiple telephone numbers, good toll rates, digital trunks, caller id, new phones, better transmission, larger system capacity, lower overall monthly cost, new manufacture warranty, maybe even reducing their monthly internet cost)i'm not a salesman but, this sounds like a good opportunity to pair with a reputable network service provider.

TTTommy, Thanks for the quick reply. A star for you!.[thanks] but I have another question that needs to be confirmed. Can I assume that if I want to steer new lines 13--16 go to Auto Attnd #2, that I will get into the VM as the administrator the usual way, and then press 3 for Auto attnds...then naturally press 2 for AA #2, then press 6 for line assignments, and then press 2 for add a line number...13,14,15,16 etc...end with a *# to confirm.
Thanks

Yup, Rich, you've got a good handle on it. Partner Mail VS or Partner Messaging, go to the Auto Attendant and assign the lines there, #206 still steers them to the AA, #506 controls the number of rings before the AA picks up. The night service button on Ext. 10 will affect ALL lines on the system, so keep that in mind if the departments have differing hours of operation
