Is there a way to increase system wide station volume? I have a client with 20 34D phones and he cant hear very well. Trying to get away from Hearing impaired devices. Maybe a special code in programming?
When was his hearing last tested? May be he should have his ears checked!
There is NO system adjustment for handset volume on the Partner and NO programming code. The only volume control is on each system phone, like the P34D sets they currently have. If that does not provide enough volume, he may needs a hearing aid. In this day and age lots of people have damaged hearing from all the loud stuff out there, things like Ipods and boom cars, etc.!
I also have a client in a loud environment who needs a little more volume on the handsets. I bought a booster from Clarity at TWAcom. I have used a Walker in the past. I am hoping this appeases the customer
Cause they have 16 more Ds. I know that too many 4424s on a IPO can cause some power issues while trying to light all of the lights but I have not heard of an issue with Partner and lots of BLFs.
Another item to check is handsets and handset cords. There are a lot of handsets and cords being made in China and shipped with so-called "refurbished" telephones - and I have seen entire cases (48-handsets per case) defective - meaning very low volume from the called party's perspective - and sometimes - the reverse. So - sometimes not just one or two bad handsets - but every single one shipped with the system.
Getting handsets from China has been happening for years! AT&T started before they spun off WECO to Lucent in the post divestiture era. As far as handsets, I believe all the types after the "K" series came from China. Although the later "K"s most likely came from there too.
FireTec,
Do all the P34D phones exhibit the same volume problem?
Volume has several factors, line quality for one, the higher the voltage (or better the milli amps) the louder the other party will be heard and the louder the call will be outgoing.
Also the settings on the individual handset influence the incoming but not hte outgoing volume.
Outgoing volume is not influenced by any partner handset but if you have a headset base you can most likely set the outgoing volume aka mic volume.
The system has no influencial volume other then the handset or speaker solume settings on the sets and outgoing strictly the offhook line voltage.
Take a multimeter and measure the milli amps on teh line jsut straight on and you should get something like 20 - 35 mA if you get more towards the 20 then you have a long cable between the Co and yourself and the volume will be low, if you get more towards teh upper end then teh line is better and the volume should be higher.
