PARTNER 6.0 E/W T1 Phantom ringing

I have a customer with a large PARTNER 6.0. 2 or 3 times a week the second (right side) intercom button will start ringing for no apparent reason. the only way to stop it is to take the reciever of the hook. The phones that ring are in a group, so all ring at once. This condition exist for several minutes and the disappears. This is a very busy office and as far as we know we are not loseing any calls.
(no one complaining) It is just a nusiance and adds to the stress of the operation. Every thing else seems to work fine. One last item, all of this is working behind an after market auto attendant. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi GilGilmore,
Try restarting everthing. That sometimes solves odd problems without having to work to hard.

If that doesn't work, have a user press the ringing intercom without picking up and note what is on the display of their phone. It follows that the user doing this has a display phone.
