Just got a used Partner 4.1 processor, 206ec 3.0, 206e 3.1
with one MLS-18D and six MLS-12 phones installed.

All seems well except...the lines are answered with a little voice "Transferring to Receptionist".
How can I program my lines to ring without having this happen. I would like the calls to ring until we can pick them up.

Thanks
Cheers!!!

Well, you obviously also have some type of Voice Mail installed with that. You have not programmed the voice mail ports properly, so the system is sending calls there, and the voice mail does not know how to properly handle them.

Post a more complete description of which modules you have in which slots, and exactly which voice mail (model, release, and number of ports), and someone will be able to give you the steps to set it up.

The entire manual for the system and voice mail are available for free from

Thank you.

Looking at it from right to left: 206e 3.1, 206ec 3.0, Processor 4.1, and you were correct, Partner Mail VS Rel. 5.0 with a 4 port card, the next slot is vacant.

Cheers!!!!

Just to get it started, go to extension 10 and program this:

Feature 00
Left Intercom twice
#505-7-24-1
#306-24-10
#399-24-25-26-27
Feature 00

This will stop the answering, and let you dial Intercom 777 to access Voice Mail.

Thanks for your help.

I removed the VMS module from the system. I have three separate lines and eight extensions. Everything works as I would like it:
Ext 10 Line 1 No ring, Line 2 No ring, Line 3 Ring
Ext 11 Line 1 No ring; Line 2 Ring; Line 3 No ring
Ext 12, 13, 14, 16, 17 No Ring Lines 1,2 and 3
Ext 15 Line 1 Ring, Line 2 Ring, Line 3 No ring

After 5 Rings on Line 1, if no answer, line gets transfered to my Live Answering Service.

Before you ask why I have both a live answering service and voice mail, I'm in the health field and I use the live service to contact my On-Call Docs. Sometimes this requires my service to go down a list before contacting anyone, then transferring the caller to the on-call doc's line.

When I install the 5.0 Partner Mail VS with 4 ports:
Ext 18, 19, 20, 21
Hunt Group 7
I run into a problem.
I only want the voice mail to answer Line 2 after 5 rings.
Instead, Voice mail answers ALL lines after 5 rings.

What did I do wrong?

Cheers!!!!

When I install the 5.0 Partner Mail VS with 4 ports:
Ext 18, 19, 20, 21
Hunt Group 7
I run into a problem.

I'll say!!

We're not communicating here. The ports are like this:

[tt]
2 2 V
0 0 M
6 6 S

1 1 2
0 6 2

1 1 2
1 7 3

1 1 2
2 8 4

1 1 2
3 9 5

1 2 2
4 0 6

1 2 2
5 1 7
[/tt]

So you can see that the 4 ports that should be in Hunt Group 7 are 24, 25, 26, and 27 (not 18, 29, 20, and 21)

Once you get that corrected, #206-7 is used to assign or NOT assign lines to the Auto Attendant. So, #206-7-01-2 will make Line 1 NOT be answered. Same for Line 2, but #206-7-02-1 will send Line 2 to the AA. #506-2 will give you 4 rings before it is answered.

So far so good, except..........

Now some guy is answering thanking everyone for calling Shared Information Systems.

Password 1 2 3 4 does not work.

How can I clean this up and reboot to a default system without the correct password?

Cheers!!!!

Well, an Avaya Business Partner can call into it and reset the password to whatever you want it to be, for a small charge of course.
