you need to take the clamshell apart battery is soldered to the pc baord , as I recall there is a duagte baoard you have remove to get at the battery (or maybe the batt is on the daugter board ,its been a while I dont realy recall ,but you will see it there )
battery cost around 6.00-10.00 range
can you do it ?
well that depends on your comfort level with pc board soldering/ desoldering .
Hi manersj,
Skip is on the right track. It's a three pin Ni-cad battery, 3.6V as found in old 486 motherboards.
The Partner II has a daughterboard (normally stuck to the other half of the clamshell by two pieces of foam). The Partner Plus locates the battery on the main board.
It's easier to do this with a solder sucker, solder wick is very helpful too. Sometimes I need to do this with just an iron and solder. Make sure the battery jumper is closed when you are done.
It's an odd battery with two negative terminals. You could use a typical cordless phone battery, (most are 3.6v) but it's not good practice. Last one I replaced cost around 30 bucks and was'nt too difficult to solder in.
