I have 114 gigs and I want to sep up an dedicated mysql database server.. I am not sure how I should partiton it..
Any recommendations?

welll i don't think there is some kind of a "best partitioning" scheme - there are many opinions on partitioning the disk - every admin prefers his own scheme

if you are worried about running out of the disk space dedicated to the mysql databases - install your server on a smaller hdd and use your big disk as a mysql datadir
