Windows XP SP 3
New install.
I have SATA Hard Drive 250GB
I have it partitioned 50G, 100G, 100G.
1st two partitions (50G, 100G) no problems.
The last partition will not format. It gets to about 30% done and hangs up. I have tried it within windows and then from the C: in safe mode. Same result.
Any suggestion on the problem or on a way to check that partition?

Well, about checking the drive, go to the respected manufacturers website and use their tools to check the whole drive...

as too the reason why it would not format... can't really say, could be a BUM drive, Bad sectors, wrong/corrupt partition table, etc...

Using Win XP, Start->Run->cmd-> chkdsk X: /r where "X" is the drive letter of the partition in question.

If you don't have anything on that hard drive, you can download and create the Ultimate Boot CD and it has utilities on there to totally erase your hard drive, leaving it ready for OS installation.
