Hello,
I am having issues with my Symantec backup exec failing and I think it is due to not enough disk space on my server's C drive that is causing the VSS to fail.
I would like to repartition the C drive and steal some of the excess space from the D drive. Is this posible and do you recommend a specific software package to achieve this.

Thanks in advance
David

Acronis can backup partitions...then blowout your current configuration and build new partitions...then use Acronis to restore each partition to their new location. It will modify to the same size you allocate. i am sure there are many others out there too.

hi,
you can also install Acronis on your box and resize
C and D. What TechyMcSe2k suggested is better, my solution is a little dirty (you leave such program on the server),
but I arrived 2nd; however this 2nd solution is easier and faster. Just 1 or 2 reboot.
To you the decision!

Paragon is another partitioning software. Will shrink the D: drive to unallocate space, expand the c: drive to use the space. Last server took less than an hour from install to finish. Not cheap, but less expensive then Acronis Disk Director.

I have used Acronis and it has never let me down.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Acronis is a greta product, have used it at home for years. The server product is a little pricey though. I had an issue where I had to repartition multiple servers, and Acronis wanted something like $600 per server for the license.

I ended up buying an unlimited site license of EASUS Partition Manager for $400. I've used it on 5 RAID 5 servers including a virtual machine with no problem. You can buy a 1 server license for about $150.

Hope this helps.
