I just got a 1 TB Seagate drive I'm going to use for multiple backups of my 160 Gig C drive. My first thought is to map it as one drive, but maybe two or three would be better? Before I partition the disk I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best partition size to use. Thanks for your help, all suggestions welcome. [dazed]

The partition limits, that where a problem in the past (due mostly to DOS and windows set ontop of that), do not apply any longer...

if the drive is to be used purely for backup images, etc. then by all means keep it as one partion/drive...

but if you plan on doing file storage, e.g. multimedia files, then I would logically separate the drive into two or more partitions, e.g. partition 1 called BackUpC (for your back up of drive C) size around 50% of the drive or at least twice the size of C for two backups and similar for the other two partitions but in varying sizes depending on the need...

but that is just what I would do...

Thanks, I was looking for a second opinion.

I agree for backup purposes leave it as one big partition.
