I am running a windows 2000 server and we constantly run out of space on our c:\drive. We have 2 partitioned drives and of course Exchange creates the M Drive. We have our D: drive that has tons of space. I would like to create more space on our C:\drive but don't know how to do this without disrupting everything. Any suggestions???

if you do a search in the forum for "partition tools" you will find yourself many threads on this very subject and hopefully one of them helps you out.

Here is a temporary solution for you.

Exchange server writes transaction logs in units of 5MB.
You will probably find these logs in C:\Program Files\exchsrvr\mdbdata folder.

Many people accumulate 10MB per day (or more depending on traffic) in these logs, or 1GB in 100 days or 3.5GB/year.

In exchange server there is a utility to move these files to another location, such as your D drive which has space. Search in Help in Exchange Server. It will take only a few minutes to set the new location and to move the files, without downing your server. Do not be tempted to delete these logs as they are a means of rebuilding your mail database in event of corruption.
Ideally you should have these log files on a mirrored or RAID 5 drive.

Cricket is right,

Rule of thumb, you have to find out first why you are running out of disk space.

1. Other than an Exchange server, Is your server a file server too? If so move the shares over to the empty disk space.

2. now, if you server is only an exchange server and is used heavily, like cricket said, you need to look at your exchange log files. You should have no more than 25-250mb between backups. If backups are not flushing your logs you need to find out why. If you are not backing up this machine you need to. If not, you might want to consider turning on circular logging to flush the logs. Depending on how many logs have accumulated. Circular logging can take up to 2 days to clear the exchange logs. DO NOT delete the logs manually!

goodluck,
