Hello,
We have an LPAR created on p575 and now we need to move this LPAR to a different Frame which is also p575 and also connected to the same HMC(This managed system has enough proc and memory). What are all the steps involved in this process to move a partition from one frame to other?

Thanks

create exactly the same LPAR on new p575 (cable it to the same subnets and external storage) then install AIX on your new LPAR from source LPAR mksysb (via NIM or tape).

you could also shutdown your "old" LPAR and swap rootvg's disks between p575 whith that configured in new LPAR and start then your new LPAR from this disks.

The easiest way is to take a mksysb of the source LPAR. Create a new LPAR definition and use the mksysb to restore to the new LPAR after allocating the tape drive to the new LPAR's profile to boot from.

Another was is to use NIM or alt_disk_install to do this! But the idea will be the same.

If you are Using VIO for your source LPAR and your disks are defined on the VIO then you can create a second SCSI adapter and copy the disk or lv on the VIO to a new one then map it to the destination LPAR and boot!

So many ways leading to the same OUTPUT.

Regards,
Khalid

If you boot off SAN, point the LUNS and the new FC's and away you go.

If you boot of local disks, then mksysb restore will probably be your option (for the os).
