I've got Partition Magic version 3.05.302 (I'm guessing thats quite old...) at work and am trying to update our build on computers.

The IT person who originally created the builds has now left, but the way he set them up was to have all the Dell computers with a 2 gig partition, and all the Compaqs with a 4 gig partition.

The Dells now have a problem in that they get lots of massive programs installed on them, and we would like to keep it all on one partition. 2 gig used to be enough, but not anymore.

Where is the option in Partition Magic to add space to a partition? I'm sure this is the program he used to do it, but I can't figure it out.

If you need anymore info, let me know and I'll post it...

I don't know if version 3 had this feature but version 7 does according to this info I found on another site, maybe an upgrade to version 7 would be your best bet.

"I then decided to try to change the size of partitions D: and E: using the "resize partition" function. Click the "resize" icon, select disk, and select partition. I selected the D: partition, which was currently 19 Gb and entered a new larger size of 25 Gb. This change in the size of D: required space to be taken from another partition. I selected the E: partition to be the donor. A display again showed the current settings and the proposed settings with D: as 25 Gb and E: as 13 Gb, If this is correct, click finish and the partitions are resized."

Yes partition Magic 7 does have the capability to resize the partitions, but I don't know about previous version either. Besides there is alway a good reason to upgrade your old software.

Its alright, I got it sorted. It does have the option...

Since I was using NTFS on my primary partition, I had to create a second partition using FAT (you have to use the software in DOS...but I'm guessing you already know that). Then all you do is move the FAT partition to the end of the drive and resize the NTFS one.

The reason I couldn't resize it before was because the FAT one was right after it. Simple really...I should've known.
