Hi to all,

does anyone knows a "Cookbook" for Installation and Configuration of Partition Load Manager for AIX 5.3.
We will get a pSeries p670 in near Future and I am searching for Informations.

PLM is a feature of Advanced Power Virtualization on power5/power5+ hardware. A p670 is a power4 box.

There is however a PRPQ which enables you to order PLM for power4 hardware. It enables you to maximize the hardware utilization by reassigning processing resources to the DLPARs that have the highest load.

On a p4, you are limited to using PLM for DLPAR partitions - so AIX52-04 and AIX53 - and I guess it is less responsive (gut feeling, don't take my word for it) than PLM for p5 hardware.

Look up PLM on - but it gives no specifics for PLM on p4.
