Hi, I am re-building an old HP PC with win98 on it and everytime I am done installing it, the partition deletes itself. When I FDisk it, it displays no partition. Can anyone tell me what causes it? Thanks.

You must reboot or "power-off" to make the fdisk'ing
of a partition permanent .
Then format and install .
Just make one primary for the OS ,
others if any can be done afterwards.

(if you do this and it still disappears , it's spooky)

I did the proper fdisk'ing (and so many times). Just don't understand why partition keeps being deleted, is it the HD or the Mobo? Just ordered a new HD to replace the old HD, will see what happens.

I will check on that. thanks.
