Hello,

I just bought a computer that has two partitions on it. It has a C: (108 GB) partition that has program & windows files, and a D: (3.43 GB) partition which has recovery files. I want to create another partition of about 30 GB from that C: drive partition without losing any info, but Im not quite sure how to go about doing this. Can you please give me some info on how to go about this? I was thinking of using Partition Magic, but if there is something else that is better to do please let me know.

Thank you,

Unless there is extra free space sitting around, the only way to do it is to use special third party software like Partition Magic.
I'd highly reccomend using this software package in particular as you can move/resize partitions without losing any data. If you can understand it, you probably don't.

HI OFFLIMITS,

I agree, Partition Magic is the way to go. I always setup my disks with much smaller partitions to begin with. That way I can put various data on different partitions, while having windows on a separate partion, programs on a separate partition, etc. Makes defragging so much easier as well as backups.
