Partial imports from Excel to Access97

I am importing data from Excel to Access97. When I do so, I only get 16,384 records from a source of 22,198 records.

I also notice that whenever I use the analyze with Excel, the output is saved to an Excel 5.0 worksheet. I'm guessing the two issues are probably related and are in the setup, but I've been unable to locate answers.

I am working on a 4.0 NT machine without admin rights, using Access97 and Excel 97.

Thank you in advance.

Try importing the data automatically ie let Access create a new table. You can then see if all the records are present. The most obvious causes are
1) you have some table constraint that is rejecting duplicates
2) the records have data which is not acceptable to Access.

Have you checked the error table that is created during the import/update?

Thank you BNPMike for your response.

I do have access create a new table and there is no error table created, it thinks that it has imported all of the records. The data is simple text and creates a text formatted field when imported. I think the problem might have something to do with the limitations of Excel 5.0, if I remember right the 16,384 was the total number of records you could have in a single worksheet. I don't know how the association with the Excel came about, but it seems that is what is causing the problem and I don't know how to make the changes to access to change that.

Another reason why I don't think it is the data, is that if I split the original worksheet which I'm importing from in half and have it create two tables, it works fine. However, it is a pain to put them back together again and I know there has to be a simple solution, just don't know what it is.

Would appreciate any other ideas.

Thanks again!
