I am using Sterling version 6.2. I have a address field that looks like this:

11248 west st|anytown MD 12345
I need to parse out the address before the | and map to one field and the address information after the | and map to another field.
would appreciate some assistnace with this if possible. I am pretty new to Sterling mapping as I have only worked with Mercator (IBM) in the past.

Can you take the data out into Excel and use the Text to Columns option?

I've done some quick googling & can't find any software called Sterling with a version of 6.2. Can you give some more details? Regardless of the software, there's usally some sort of string parsing functionality in it. Is there an equivalent to Instr() or Find() that you can combine with Mid()

I'm wondering if you're getting your GIS & Mappings mixed up. This forum is about Geospatial Information Systems and Cartographic maps. Looking at the only IBM Sterling I can see it's about mapping data and transforming it as parts of workflows.

We could be confused in exactly the same way, but confusion might be like Nulls, and not comparable.
