I have an excel file that uses category codes to classify products. It lists the category, the manufacturer and then all products that fall within that category for that manufacturer. Each of the products is entered into the same cell, seperated by commas. A user would open excel, do a ctrl f and type in the product number they are interested in to find out what category it falls under.

What I believe I need to do is have access count the number of products in each cell and duplicate the category and mfg info and then parse the product #'s individually into a new product column. I have imported the file into Access. Currently there are 7000 rows. Based on the number of products I believe this number will increase to 120,000+ rows once the category and mfg info is duplicated. Any suggestions? Thanks. D

Have a look at the Split function.

Hope This Helps, PH.
