parsing an URL

I need to parse an URL:

http://server/file.ext?var1=value&var2=value

before I reinvent the wheel,
did anybody ever write cpp code to do this ?
or is there an API that can do this for me ?

I forgot to mention what I want to do with this url.
I need the names of the variables(var1,var2), and their values
