I use a cgi program called EDIT TAG. I have it set up/ configured to work on a free host (netfirms) that offers cgi with no problems at all.

I also have it set up on a paid host. It was working beautifully until last week when the host switched us to a new control panel and moved us. I reinstalled and CHMOD the files to 755, Now instead of it working like it did before I get the following error

Parse script could not open file /home/jerseyd/

I set it up exactly like it was before, it works fine on the free server, I don't understand why I cannot get it to work now. My host is no help, he installed a test_cgi.cgi and that works so he basically said "the cgi works if you want help I charge $60 an hour." Yea well my script worked before he moved us too and now it doesn't. Can someone assist me please.

Hi mate,

Did the host change the server path to your files?

It sounds like you may also want to consider moving to a new host. [wink]

Hope this helps Wullie

Well he did move us to a different server, but I did reinstall this into the new cgi-bin and all the files were moved over so not sure why it still isn't working. I changed all the paramaters that needed editing and even asked him for the absolute path to make sure I had it correct. I am clueless why it isn't parsing.

(And yes I told my host he was out of his mind and that he could jump in the lake and of my intention of searching for a new host) Moira

Is the file readable/writeable by the server process? Try chmod'ing the file to 666. //Daniel

well not sure if this helps but here is the url

If you choose a the TABLE EXAMPLE and click edit, it brings up the file to edit ok. Change the info and click RECORD CHANGES and thats where the problem comes in
Error!
Parse script could not open file /home/jerseyd/
testsimple.html is inside the main folder (public_html) you can access it by typing in (its just a test page, ignore the color scheme lol)This is the same place it was before when it was working so not sure whats going on.

I am going to try changing it from 755 to 666 and see if that helps, will let you know.

To see a working example of the same script I have it set up and running on a different server When you change info on this one and record changes it always parses. I even took the cgi files from this cgi-bin, copied them and transferred them to the non-working host and chmod 755 with no sucess.

Thanks for the input Moira

woops link isnt working , try that again
password to record changes is 39kedvas if you want to test it out.

BTW I changed the chmod to 666 but it gave me an internal server error, changed it back to 755. Moira

What file did you chmod? The file that the error points to or the script itself? //Daniel

I CHMOD all the script files inside the cgi-bin (theres 4 total) and as a last resort last night I even tryed setting read write exe on the file that it points to inside the main folder and the folder itself. Ive tried them at 755, 777.

I have spent literally DAYS on this, last night I was up from 1am til 7am just trying to fix this. Trying this config, changing that, retesting etc. If I ever see a cgi-script again I may throw up LOL

I am just going to tell the host he will need to move us back to the old CPanel, I had it working there before so will just cross my fingers at this point.

Thanks for all your help and ideas. Moira
