Hello all,

I have a ACS R7 installation and want a small horn hooked up in a warehouse in the back. I know almost nothing about paging systems so here is my ignorance.

I have a 5 watt self amp Bogen horn and the related power supply (wall wart). Can I hook that up directly to the ACS R7? I was told I could now I'm not so sure. Configured the ACS R7 Feature #617 for line 5. Hooked up t/r to the inputs on the horn. hooked up the 24 volt +- to the horn. When you try Simultaneous Page it pages through the handsets but not the horn... Am I totally messing things up.

After more searching I found the post at the bottom from TouchToneTommy and 1043...

I am concerned that I programmed the system #104 for 2 lines and later programed #617 for line 5. Is this my problem with the paging... how do I fix it.

Mark

#617 tells the system what line you are going to use for paging.Even though you can use any line port for paging on an R7 use line 5, it is a true paging port. Program #617 first before you program #104.

When programmed correctly
int 70 will page overhead
int *70 will page overhead and everyone in group one.
int *71 will only page group 1
int 71 will ring group 1

The page port will drive self-amplified speakers, like Valcom's, or of course the 600-ohm input of a page amp. It will NOT drive a speaker directly.

That would be a Bogen AH5A right?

It will work just fine.

Do you have a toner? Connect it to the Red and Green leads of the speaker, and see if it will make noise.

Double check the power supply connections, especially the polarity.

Make sure you pressed Enter after you entered line 05 in #617. The Red/Green coming out of CO-5 is the audio pair.

Good luck, it should be a piece of cake!!

Thanks Tommy,

I will try my toner on the leads tomorrow to make sure the horn is working.

FYI - I did press enter after chosing line 05 and I thought it was going to be a piece of cake, but here I am at 11:00pm checking the boards.

Yes it is the 5 watt selfamplified horn and I am using the 24 volt 300mh wall wart bogen power pack.

I am assuming that I am using the center pair coming out of the RJ45 Line 5 on the ACS.

Thank for your help. Problem fix...

The guy who wired at the horn made a bad connection on the green and red leads.... The idea to use the toner on the leads helped a lot

Replaced a ACS R1 that was using a Page Pac 6. I have 1 R7 Processor, and 2 308 expansion mods. Using 7 active lines now. The equipment was put in for expansion. Cannot get loudspeaker to work. Used #617 to select. Should I be using the page pac, or not? Should I use co line 8 or co line 11

Thanks in advance
