ok, i need to get the 'parent.location.href' from within an iframe pasted into other web sites - ie. several different web sites will display a page from one other master site within the iframe. this has worked fine on same-server located sites, but doesn't play ball when the master site and the display site are disimilarly located. is there any way around this without going down the ssl / Signed Scripts route?

pleases somebody say there is!!!

no, unfortunately i need to be able to grab any location regardless - nothing sinister - just to verify the origin of the link. thanks anyway Dan.

is there another way to achiexe this or am i going to have to request that my users hardcode their location into a form that they paste directly into their page??

ralph

You could go via a server-side proxy... so you install a proxy on your site which the other sites go through.

That would bypass any client-side security restrictions...

Hope this helps,
Dan

ingenius Dan, but unfortunately not really viable (not for a halfwit like me anyway). looks like i'm resigned to use a less slick model after all!!!
