Parameters with subreport

My company has been replacing the previous version of Crystal Reports 8.0 with Version 9.0.

For the web-based reports we will be doing it with RAS.
I am using the sample report called SimpleParameterFields.
I can get the parameters passed but:

My report has 3 subreports in it.
They report information from a certain date range.
When I send the start date and end date the report appears with the correct information in the subreports but the main report does not.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

I went into the Report Designer and did a preview of the report and the main report worked fine.

It just doesn't work when you try to view via the RAS.

I'd suspect a minor flaw in the code, and a major one in design.

I NEVER use parameters in subreports id the parameter exists in the main. Link the main subreport to the subreports field, not a subreport parameter.

Yes,
I do have the main report linked to the subreports, but
I need to pass a start date and an end date parameter to the main report.
