Parameters in SQL Package, passing in...

I am not able to get an import package running properly. I am passing a .txt file name in from a VBA to a script at the front of the package, from there I need it to pass the parameter along to become the source of the package. The paramter is going in fine, but it is not being passed along to the source step. Are there any easier ways to pass in a parameter directly to the source step? Or is it not even possible?
