I am using Crystal Reports 8.5 Developer's Edition.

I am doing cross tab reports based on different time periods. Since this involves different record selection criteria (starting and ending dates), the only way I know how to do it is with sub-reports.

However, I only want my user to have to enter one date into a Parameter field. Is there a way to pass that parameter value to sub-reports??

Sure. If the main report is using the parameter already, just goto the change subreport links (right click the subreport in CR8.5) and scroll down the list of used report items. Down near the bottom you should see any of your existing parameters. Select them into the right pane and then note what field in the subreport they match against.

If it is a date range or not an exact match, just uncheck the use in subreport box. Edit the subreport and edit the select statement. Your main report links show up as
"PM-<the original name>" in the list and "{?PM-<name>}" in the select statment. I use this and have this bit of code for one param:

{FORMULA-HDR.Cust-ID} = {?Pm-BATCH-REC-HDR.Cust-ID}
