I used the first field "Dis" to pass a values by using as a parmeter field. When i pass a differnet values to the paramer field "dis" the rest of the values do not change and i do know why it is not changing. I was suppose to get different values for permit #, check Date and the rest of the fields selected above. if someone has an idea why i am not getting the right record please let me know.i am using CR 8.5 and oracle 9i database.
thank you

korata,

Are you using a stored procedure with parameters defined within it, or are you just calling tables then trying to pass a parameter you set up withing Crystal?

Maybe it something simple as : Did you use the "Select Expert" to call your parameter?

Thanks,
DallasAggie

I just select a field from the table to pass a parameter.yes i used the select expert to call my parameter. The value for the parameter field changes every time i pass a different value however the rest of the field either it is blank or do not change values.

That is so strange. So, when you pick a new parameter, does that new value show in the "Dis" column, but the rest of the fields stay the same?

That is exactly what i am getting the value for the Dis field changes now and the rest of the fields have no records, just blank. It is strange but i do not know how i could solve this problem.

I just created a small Access app with the data you have above, plus I addedd some with different Dis's....when I applied a parameter it worked fine. What is the datatpye of that field in your database? What is the parameter datatype you defined? Make sure these two are the same (e.g., String - String). Also, if you are only seeing the Dis change, you must have put the parameter in the details section in place of the actual Dis field...and if there is a problem with your parameter, then you might be returning the same data but see the change in Dis field because of the param change...not actual data.

check your parameter again...if that doesn't work then can you send me your report? robertandrade@hotmail.com. Do not save data with report.

There were some unwanted linked created automatically when i select the fields from the table. I am working to eliminate some of the links that i do not want for this report see if that helps.i will let you know the final outcome.by the way what is the best way to generate an invoice? Is crosstab is the best way to do it.please give me some clue....i do not know much about CR. thank you for the help

Invoice: No. I don't think you would want to use a crosstab for an invoice. A simple line item report would look good, maybe use the "greenbar" look...alternating every other row.

to do that, in the "Selection Export for Details" go to the Color tab and click on the formula box, then type in:

If RecordNumber Mod 2 = 0 Then RGB(224,224,224) Else NoColor

I'm not sure if "RecordNumber" is in 8.5....so this may not work, though there is another way to do it...just don't know off hand.

Good luck.

Thank you for the help and it works fine.thank you again
