Hello

Q: How do I set up the EDIT MASK in the SET DEFAULT VALUES for a user to enter the first few characters of a customer name and have the report return the data. For example if the user enters Arc.... It should return all customers who's name begins with Arc. The customer name can begin with either numbers or letters.

Thanks Much

(1) Create a parameter called "Customer Name". Select the "Discreet Value" option in the "Create Paramter Field" box.
(2) Click on the "Select Expert" icon. Choose new and select the field that you will want to do the record selection on. Then select "Is Like" on the left side of the box and ?Customer Name on the right side. You are now set up to accomplish what you described in your second paragraph. Crystal now allows you to use the * for wildcard selection.

To test your results, run the report, and at the parameter prompt type in Arc*. This action will return all customer names that start with Arc. Good luck!

Or instead of LIKE you could have used STARTSWITH and then you wouldn't need to enter the asterisk. Ken Hamady
