I am using Crystal Reports 8.5.

There is a report that I created = Vendor Performance = for a user which is what he wants however he now wants to be able pick the "top-20" vendors from the report. I was thinking of using a Parameter however I am not sure how to go about it. the Vendor numbers can be anywhere from 0000 to 9999 and he wants to choose 20 vendors. I have one parameter for the date range and than i have another parameter for vendor number however I can only enter one vendor number. I need to add up to 20 vendors numbers and they would not be in numeric order so i can not do a range (between). is this possible? should I be using a formula or something else besides parameter?

Thanks,
Robin

Have you tried to insert a Top-N on a summary, using the Group Sort Expert? I am guessing that your top 20 vendors is based on a database value.

If the user wants to be able to manually choose the 20 vendor ID numbers then you need to change the parameter to "Allow Multiple Values"=TRUE

I totally forgot about the Top-N! I don't create many reports, if I create one report a year that is amazing... i sometimes go in and edit older reports. thanks so much for responding back to me!!

one more question..
in the report that i have the group sort expert is grayed out, what do i need to do to "active" it? even if i go to report the top-n is also grayed out.

i am using CR 8.5

thanks!

insert a summary on the field to sort by.

...and you have now nearly tapped my knowledge of Top-N.

If i am able i will be happy to experiment on my system to answer any additional questions you may have..

Ok inserting a summary does let me do the group sort expert. :)

I will go forward from here. Thanks again.
I will be back --- with the results or another question.
I do appreciate your help! :)
