Hey folks,

I have been perplexed by the following problem for about a week now, and its driving me crazy!! %-(

I have a parameter query which is designed to link to a report to print out the specification of engineering products. I am having problems in passing the parameter to the query.

When I run the query with the criterea typed on the design view (like this -> Like "*critera*") it works ok, but whenever i change this to [critera] and type in the critera in the dialog box, the resulting query is blank.

Do I have set the parameter type to text? I did this, and it didn't seem to make any difference.

I eventually want the criterea to be typed in on a form rather than the pop up dialog box. I have tried doing this too, but to no avail.

Any hints? Thanks very much for your help...

It would be great if anyone had a mdb (Access97) file with an example of this.

If you wish to use a textbox on a form as the criteria in your query then you need to supply the query with the location of the textbox, similar to:
Forms!frmSelector!txtPickit.
If you want to return all records if nothing is entered in the textbox then use:
Like Forms!frmSelector!txtPickit & "*"
