I need to pick 2 dates of Fiscal Year begin and End date from a file into Paramters. File contains following 2 lines
basically I would first pick them as strings then later would convert them to Dates.
--------------
MM DD YYYY
MM DD YYYY
--------------
I can't think of any solution and I would really appreciate your help in this. Essentially I need to run this report on first saturday after the Fiscal Month end. Is there simpler way out ?
Please let me know If I am required to provide more informaton on this

Thanks very much in advance

Rakesh

It's difficult to see what you're trying to do from the information you've provided. Do you want the strings to end up in a dynamic parameter pick list?

Naith,
Thanks for the response, Let me put it in another may be better way:

I have 2 dates which are calculated by ther system and sent in a file as above format I have given earlier. there are 2 dates. My report should pick those value as its parameter at runtime

Start date : 1st line of the above file
End Date : 2nd line of the file.

Can it be done in seagate info 7.0.2 I am sorry I forgot to mention version number of info in my last post.

Thanks again
Rakesh

You can have the file export to csv or xls, add the file to your main report as a datasource in addition to your current datasource, and pass the string in at runtime for conversion.

Thanks, I did not want to touch the other system but if you say, I assume that that is the only way. I can't resist to ask reports scheduling be driven on the date , i.e. I want my report to run on the date being sent by the other system. i.e. the EndDate + 1 as in case in point.
I know I may be asking illogical thing
Thanks again for your help

Rakesh

You don't really need to do anything to the other system. You just need to have a batch job or something pick up the file and copy it to a *.csv, *.xls or whatever. The chances are it's probably being written out to a filetype that Crystal will accept as a datasource anyway, making the need for a conversion redundant.

Thanks once again !
The file actually is placed in Unix, So I do have a need to write an cron job which would pick up, make it .csv send it across to Reporting server running on NT.
Thanks
Rakesh
