I saw a thread about this from not too long ago, but didn't see any resolution. I'm moving files from a Win2k machine to an XP Pro machine and I get this parameter incorrect message and that the file(s) can not be copied. Between two Win2k machines, had no problem and between two XP machines I got the error. I was using a USB flash drive. Any thoughts/help?

Thanks....czano

This may or may not help as usually i believe you will get a different error message. Anyway, sometimes when copying from a fat32 drive to an NTFS drive you can have problems.
What you could do is look for files or folders with very very long names. Its possible, i think, that this could be the problem. Although i do believe you should get a different error message. But you never know sometimes. Its only a suggestion.

How are you copying the files? Are you using My Computer and dragging and dropping? File Explorer? Are you using Edit/Copy and then Edit/Paste?

Can you copy them from a DOS prompt using xcopy?

I'm guessing that this is not a permission issue because the flash drive is probably FAT32, not NTFS.
