I have created a crystal report that has a dynamic parameter for part number. Is is possible to publish to crystal server and have the user select the parameter when they refresh the report in the server. I cannot get it to do anything but use the default parameter.

Thanks,

Yes, any parameter can be set for population at runtime.

In the CMC, ensure that the DEFAULT parameter settings for that specific report object are set to EMPTY.

You can leave a default, and there are plenty of goodreasons for doing so, but you need to check the Propmt user box to get the report toprompt them.

this answer is lso dependent on your version of Crystal, please remember topost your software version with any post regarding any software.

I'm on crystal reports and server XI, sorry I forgot that before.

Now I'm getting the error :Fail to Start Prompting. When trying to refresh the report using infoview.

If you are using Dyamic Parameters, they create Business Views when posted to the XI Server.

The security and database access rights need to be set-up through the desktop "Business View Manager" before the Dyamic Parameter prompts will run correctly in the InfoView web interface.
