Parameter Fields Version 9.2

I am using version 9.2 and have created 2 parameter fields each with 20 different selection items.
My problem is that I want to prompt for one or the other parameter depending on a switch coming from my data not both. It seems as soon as Crystal sees the parameter field in a formula it prompts for the selection. I am open to other ideas of how to achieve results.

I am using an Excel database.
