Hi,

I've wrote a sql query for some users, this includes a couple of parameters that the user needs to give, which work fine, but what i would like to do is give the user a hint as to what the parameter should be, ie the parameter is 'FROM' and I'd like to add a description something like 'From Date YYYYMMDD'

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Mick.

Are you using SQL*Plus to generate this report ? If so, you can use the ACCEPT command.

accept variable prompt 'What do you want ?'

Thanks for your reply Dagon, Unfortunately I'm not using SQL*Plus, I'm actually using our erp system ( IFS ) to run this query. Is there any other ways to do this if not using SQL*Plus?

Thanks in advance,

Mick.

I don't think we can give any advice on the capabilities of an in-house system.

OK Thanks, just thought there may have been an sql 'trick' to do this.

Mick.
