I am using CR XI

I like the idea of using default values in parameters as it forces users to only use data from within the db and avoid typos

However the static data may change and they wont have skills or access to the crystal report. As i dont want them to continually pester IT to change the default list can this be automatically populated with the latest list

eg ccy list may have AED, AUD,CHF but then the CAD is added and i want them to select this. Any ideas

CR XI introduced dynamic parameters, which do exactly what you want. You can read up on them in the users' guide, but basically in the parameters dialog you check 'Dynamic', then in the Values dropdown select the field that contains the values you want to display. Then click in the Parameter column to actually create the parameter.

You can also use this technique for cascading parameters, but it doesn't sound like you need them in this report.

sorry I have just checked and we are only using CR X. What are the options?
