We are considering running Oracle 8.1.6 Parallel Server (OPS) on a cluster of HP L3000's running HPUX 11.0 64 bit.

First of all -- Should I go on a course or, given a correctly setup cluster, could I hack my way through it?

We use Oracle quite a bit but have not used OPS before. Does anyone know of any issues we should be aware of?

Does anyone know of any problems running multiple databases (instances) in an OPS cluster?

I would definitely recommend the Oracle OPS course. If you can get a qualified instructor, it will help you steer around the minefields.

The biggest problem seems to be with I/O issues, although Oracle has taken measures to alleviate this - but it's rather lengthy and covered in the course.
