Hello:

I have a SCO Unix 5.0.6 machine connected to two ADDS "dumb" terminals via a Perle Specialix I/O device.

Sometimes the terminals work fine, bt at least once or twice each day the terminal displays "garbage" and gives a highlighted message at the top that says...

TRANSMIT CONDIION PARALLEL PORT NO PRINTER TO CANCEL TYPE (SHIFT+CTRL+ TAB)

Ussually, I have to do this several times to get to a prompt and then finally have to exit from SCO ann then Turn off then On. Can anyone help

Thanks

Hi,
I seem to remember having the same problem long ago. I believe it was because the operator was accidentally hitting the combination of control keys for a 'print screen' function. Therefore the terminal would lock up when trying to output to the parallel port.

There are some settings in the dumb terminal by which u can stop using the parallel port of dumb terminal.
please go thro the manuals of dumb terminals before taking any action Thief................

Hey guys Thanks for the feedback. It was pretty easy actually... In the setup for the dumb terminal there was a field that was looking for a printer on the Parallel port every time a print command was issued by the terminal which was causing all the trouble. The fix was simple. All I had to do was go into the terminal settings and change EIA/Parr to EIA/none, and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the lookout guys.
