Hello all - I'm currently helping a museum in London transfer data from a legacy IBM ThinkPad to an XP platform. They have an awful lot of data in Paradox - a product I've not used before. Corel Help Desk were not particularly helpful - does anyone know what the latest version of Paradox is and whether it is XP compatible?

The latest version is 10. Well, 11 but it is 11 only by virtue of a compile switch.

And there have been some 'issues' reported with version 11, as well as the last service pack for 10. I think the recommendation is Paradox 10 w/SP2.

Yes, it is 'compatible' with Windows XP.

There are some security changes in XP that can jump up and grab you, but they are fairly well known I think. Also, :pRIV: too deep on some systems; BDE directory not accessible to all users (full rights); toolbar files in hidden directory; etc).

Tony,

Huge thanks for this info. All I need to do now is find out whether data migration from Paradox 5 to 10 is possible! (You wouldn't know, I suppose?).

Thanks again,
Graham Duddridge

Data migration....as in the data in .db files stored by Version 5?

Yes, there is TOTAL compatibility from the earliest versions of tables in Paradox to the most recent.

Although, likely you'll want to move the data to newer table formats.

But reading/writing to earlier table formats is no different than reading/writing to the most recent table format.

Tony - Many thanks for all your help. I'll be giving this a try soon...
