paradox launcher starts and then just quits

Paradox version 9 I get all tables, forms, reports, and queries working then I double click the Launcher and there is the hour glass ...for a while then the hour glass disapears and nothing happens.

That sounds very odd. When you say you double click do you mean from the Start button in Windows?

To see if the launcher can be opened from within Paradox you may wish to open Paradox and try File - Open - Form "Launcher_name" etc.

This would at least help determine if there is something wrong with the launcher or the shortcut on Windows.

I think I had a similar problem quite some time ago, but I don't remember clearly what caused it. I want to say that it had something to do with the location of the idapi file being wrong in the shortcut command-line argument - or possibly that the location of the idapi file was not okay with XP (but I'm not positive because I'm getting old and forgetful).

When I am in Paradox I open the Expert Menu the one on the left with Chart, Crosstab, Doc'n, Find Duplicate, Form, HTML Import, Launcher, Mailing Label ETC. I have all the forms for the work I am doing in the folder c:\bob\truck I have tables. Forms, Links, Lookups, Querys, and reports all of which work in Paradox. When I go to Paradox Expert and double-click the Launcher to put them all together There is an hour glass my drive light blinks for about two minutes (timed) then the hour glass goes away the mouse pointer returns and nothing has happened. This is the first time I have ever used the Launcher I do not know what to expect. What should be happining in this scenario?

ZeusMaster,

At a guess I believe you have an OEM version of Paradox. I would think that you had Paradox already installed on your PC as part of Wordperfect office AND you don't have any manuals either. You will find that there are other experts that do not work either in the OEM version. If you need to have all the experts and the sample tables then you will need to purchase the Retail Version of WordPerfect Office. I have the same problem and I have the OEM version!!

If the expert does not even create the Launcher then I would have to go with Lewy. Though you might wish to try a reinstall of Paradox.

It is an OEM version never thought about that I do have a full version on another system so it is really no problem. That is probably where I would have cut the corner if I were assigned to cut something out.
