I have a file that I am exporting to Excel but one of the fields is a date field. When it is exported to Excel, it is shown as numbers eg. 36568 instead of 09/03/2000. The only way i can change it is in excel to change the format of the cell. Is there a way to change the format before excel is even open (in paradox). Thank you for any help.

Tamara, I really think you should continue to export the field as a numeric date value. Only a few months ago, just before Y2k, I swore I would get angry at any programmer I ever caught trying to convert a date to a string. Well, I'm older now and the horrors of the conversions are beginning to fade.... but, please, don't go that way. Format a date column in Excel to receive the exported values.
