I've read a lot of negative experiences running Paradox on Vista.
I recently purchased a box with Vista Home Premium preinstalled, so that I could try to get an application I distribute to work with Vista.
After several false starts and some real issues getting the BDE to work, what I wound up with was:
Install an idapi32.cfg in a directory OUTSIDE the 'program files' directory. Edit it by right-clicking and electing to open with the BDE Administrator.
Set this as the default .cfg.
Include a -o switch, pointing to that .cfg file, in the command line in the icon that starts Paradox.
No more problems running Paradox, nor Paradox with my application.
There was no error on exit, either.
Just sharing, in case it may help save someone ELSE's hair.
