Paradox, Access, Excel and ODBC...odd stuff

I have an Access 2000 Query linked to old Paradox 4.0 for dos tables via ODBC and the output of that query linked to Excel 2000 via MSquery the problem is that every other time I open the Excel spreadsheet and update the linked data, Excel bombs out...no error msg. just up and quits! but only every other time the spreadsheet is opened? Any clues would help.

P.S. I am on a Win 2k OS
