I have created a database in Paradox 9 with 2 memo fields.I'd like to be able to put in notes in the format as follows:
8-2-00 Called John Doe to set up appointment. No answer.
8-3-00 - Called John Doe again...set up appointment.
Ok...when I go back to edit the field...and hit <ENTER> ...
it blows the data in the memo field away. Also while I'm inputing the data...and hit enter to drop down to that second line....the cursor doesn't move.
As you can tell...I'm brand new to Paradox. Thanks for your help.

I assume you are using a form to edit the memo fields. If so, to do what you want, you need to set the edit mode of the fields to "Persist". This can be done via the keyboard (I can't remember if it's Shift+F2 or Ctrl+F2 - but it's one of them- watch the status bar until you see the word Persist in the RHS). Same effect can be done in code if you are into OPAL. Once in Persist mode, use the mouse to move to the next field, otherwise, take out of persist mode using same key combination (i.e. a toggle)

OGriofa...

Thanks. I didn't know that option existed. will try it and see if I can get it go do what I want. I'm looking forward to tinkering with learning to set up a free-standing database. Yes...I was using a "form" to edit the data.

Dan
