Can someone suggest a forum on the net somewhere that is designed for people who use Paradox 9 interactively...instead of programming?

Daniel,

Well, I personally don't discourage interactive questions. I know I post a lot of code, but that's because a) I think (some) coding skills are useful for everyone and b) that's how you get the finest level of control over Paradox. It's UI can--charitably--be described as "funky" (and, yes, that's a technical term).

You may find what you're looking for over at or
Hope this helps...

Funky....gee..."goofy"? It's a pain for non-programmers. Why in the world did they make it so hard? I consider myself to be fairly computer literate. I build and repair my own computers...and use a variety of software...have for 12 years or so...and it's still a pain to use. I'd like to learn a little coding..maybe for SQL. Even the queries seem hard to grasp. Maybe it's me...but programmers have long been known for failing to understand why the USERS of their code should and shouldn't know this or that. And, I guess (I confess I'm one.) I've never been accused of being too enthusisatic about reading manuals. Most are poorly written, tho. Most seem to be written by coders who assume users know things when they don't.

oh...and thanks for your earlier reply. I sometimes feel a little out of place asking questions about interactive use of p9...when most all of the chat is about coding. Glad 2c some don't mind such questions.

I think the UI is a holdover from the earlier days of DOS, when everything was cryptic (and fast). Paradox has always had an ear to its users and the current version has been shaped (at least somewhat) by all the Paradox programmers over the years. Since the original did not inspire a lot of interactive use, the coders got the larger voice in the design process. Of course, that could all be BS, too ;)
