I am considering upgrading my paradox 3 to the latest version. I was wondering if I will loose any documents that I have. How hard will it be to do this. Right now I am not able to get in my paradox because I have an error message of
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem- Invalid startup directory, please check your Pif file.

Also when the computer freezes up on me I have to close down by hitting the X on top of the file. When that does that I loose everything I had been working on. I then have to go to our back up system and download the file from the night before. I then have to go into the restructor and most of the time that doesnt work. Please help me

If you upgrade from the DOS version of Paradox to the Windows version, you will lose everything except your data tables. Reports, forms, and scripts will have to be reconstructed. Additionally, ObjectPAL is not very much like PAL so there is a learning curve involved.

That's probably not what you wanted to hear, but there is always the possibility of upgrading to DOS version 4, which will run under all the Windows operating systems. I don't know about how 3 performs under XP.

The error message seems to indicate that your pif is pointing to a sub-directory it can't see. This may be due to long filename translations, or it could be that you do not have permissions set properly in XP or Win2000.
