I just got a new client that has a Panasonic TDA 100. I'm very familar with Avaya and Norstar systems, so forgive my ignorance.

One of the bosses wants his Phone to also ring at his assistants desk, and if neither answer for it to go to his VM, this is called Line Appearance on Avaya and Answer DN on Norstar, I can't seem to find this feature on the Panasonic. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

its not really posible to ring an internal extension and have 2 phones ring other than Group ringing
to do this you would need to setup a new group (ie: 604 )with 2 members boss and assistant
this will be a ring group
set the boss handset to forward all calls to to the new group.this way when someone rings the bosses ext the call will forward to the group and ring ring both exts in the group.also if you place a button on the bosses handset he can switch on and off the feature.
you will also have to setup a mailbox to match the group and have this new mailbox forward all messages to the bosses mailbox

or you could simply put a call forward on the bosses handset lift handset type *7105 (assistants ext number) this way the bosses phone will ring 3-4 times then forward to the assistant to cancle press fwd/dnd dial 0
the above forward command can be placed on a button so the boss can switch on and off as required

you could place a dss button on the assistants handset this will flash but wont ring the assistant can press this button when flashing and take the call
press program
press a spare button
dial 1
enter bosses ext number
press autodial/store
if you have questions just ask

Should be able to do this with PDN/SND here is a description from the Feature Manual:

Primary Directory Number (PDN) buttons and Secondary Directory Number (SDN) buttons are ideal for use
between bosses and secretaries. When a call (intercom or CO) arrives at a PDN button on the boss's
extension, the call will ring and the LED of the SDN button will flash at the secretary’s extension as well,
indicating that an incoming call is arriving at the boss’s extension. In addition, caller information (e.g., Caller
ID) of the incoming call will appear on the secretary’s extension. The secretary can answer the call for the
boss by simply pressing the SDN button. Delayed ringing can be set for a PDN or SDN button.
A secretary can hold a call answered on the SDN button, and the boss can retrieve the held call simply by
pressing the PDN button, like when answering a call with an S-CO button. In addition, a secretary can
transfer calls from an SDN button or other button (e.g., S-CO button) to the boss’s extension with a simple
operation, like when using a DSS button.
An extension can have several SDN buttons, each registered to a different boss’s extension. However, only
one SDN button can be registered for a single boss at each extension. An extension can have up to eight
PDN buttons. PDN buttons can simplify the use of an extension because both intercom and CO line calls
can be made and received at a PDN button.

What a lovely description. Now if it was just in my manual..... The boss & Secretary arrangement in CF isn't that elegant. Care to share what manual you pulled this from?

Thanks guys. I will have to go with the ring group option for now. The PDN SDN feature is for ver 3.2 and above. I will have to see how much our vendor will charge for an upgrade.

well i have to hold my hands up on this one. it was something i completely missed.i setup it up to have a look at how it works and its a great feature. and is available on all TDA,TDE,and NCP.
boss/secretary feature is the best option for :Mlinman

Thanks for the heads up Rivet! I didn't update my manuals file and my docs are 3.0. Or should I say "were".

pdns/sdns are not great either you have to remove all
your line assignments on an ext to get the voicemail to blind transfer to an ext.....
